Log Book

Log1: C&M research techniques

Today we had to choose a genre of film for us to base our own film on, I chose comedy. We then had to choose some films which matched that genre to use as research to help us with our film research. I chose films such as Shaun of the dead, Attack the block and Superbad. The website I used to research was www.imdb.com which was very useful.
Log2:
Today we were looking in detail at Film distribution; we took down notes to help us with our homework which will be due in 2 weeks’ time. We have to make a PowerPoint explain film distribution in our own detailed words. As well as using the notes we have taken down from the lesson we were given a useful website list, they are, www.launchingfilms.com, www.launchingfilms.tv and www.summerofcinema.com .

Log 3
Today we went to the library where we were given a tutorial on a website called http://go.galegroup.com/ps/dispAdvSearch.do?prodId=GPS&userGroupName=hen_jisc#
Which we can use to help us to do advanced searches on topics or meanings we are unsure about, I have researched my genre of film which is comedy/ black comedy.

Why?

Comedy has always been a big part of the film industry from the Monty Python film series (The life of Bryan) all the way through to the Simon Pegg series (Shaun of the dead, Hot fuzz, Paul).I feel that comedy is a very popular genre of film for people to watch at the cinema or at home.
Comedy can be split into different categories, kid humour which is often funny for kids but usually not for teenagers or adults, then there is the comedy for the masses, for example the most recent big hit comedy in England cinemas is Inbetweeners the movie.
